Snitches, weak leadership and degradation of racial theories – Finnish Resistance movement in 2015

The Finnish resistance movement (FRM) is a hitlerist nazi-sect led from Sweden by an ex-bonehead Klas Lund*. They strive for a pan-Nordic dictatorship, which would be a copy of the Calmar union mixed with Third Reich policies. FRM is best known for their violence, terroristic actions and deep macho culture that promotes “honor” and blood purity. Behind the curtains FRM is full of snitches, so called race traitors and a leadership that uses a snitch as a spokesman for the organization internationally. saksaf1Even their saksaf2nazi-ideology is for sale for that matter. FRM is participating in an international nazi-conference Reconquista Europa that is organized by “Deutsche Stimme” on 9-10.10.2015 in Germany.

Juuso Tahvanainen – “leader” of FRM

The Finnish resistance movement was founded in 2008 when Henrik Holappa was in correspondence with the convicted members from the US based nazi-terrorist organization The Order. They connected Holappa with Magnus Söderman who at the time was working as one of the leaders of the Swedish resistance movement (SRM) that wanted a division in Finland. Later SRM has founded sister organizations also in Norway and Denmark, making the Nordic resistance movement (NRM) the umbrella organization of all these. The Nordic resistance movement has always been known as the most violent and dogmatic of all the fascist groups in Nordic countries. For example SRM was behind the Kärrtorp-attack in Stockholm, Sweden in December 2013 after which many antifascists got long prison sentences for defending the attacked peaceful antiracist demonstration.

In Finland one of the first actions of people involved in FRM was the attack against Helsinki Pride with pepper spray and tear gas grenades in 2010. Some of the attackers got convicted of 88 cases of assault. The youngest victim was a 7-month-old infant.

The Finnish resistance movement is built as a sect with strict demands of subordination to the leadership. For example the members have to pay a fine to the Swedish leadership if they do not participate in plastering stickers around the cities two times a week. They also claim to have a good security culture even though their membership applications and secret inside forums have leaked to the internet multiple times. A key member of the organization is a snitch and has continued to work in FRM even after having snitched other nazis already in the beginning of 2013.

Weak leader and a snitch as a representative to Germany

Since 2012 the leader of FRM is a rigid nazi Juuso Tahvanainen, who says his conscience prohibits him from  working together with “strasserists”. For example in May day 2014 NRM was invited to participate in a demonstration called ”Tag der nationalen arbeit 2014” in Plauen, Germany. The invitation came from Stephan Günther who is a member of Nordisches Hilfswerkand and at least a contact person for the now illegal Freies Netz Süd. This information was found on the secret forum of the NRM. The May day event was organized by Der Dritte Weg –party that is a project of the now illegal Freies Netz Süd –group. After Juuso Tahvanainen found out that Der Dritte Weg is a strasserist organization he wrote to other Finns: “I am really sorry to have to cancel my trip at this point, but the event brings fourth too much symbolism (and ideology) from the Black Front, which is way too far from my values even considering the context of Germany today.” To this other leader of FRM, Ali Kaurila, responded:  “We have been planning this trip so long that it would cause a lot of questions if we cancel it at this point. Would there be someone else who wants to travel to Germany?”Snitch_paavo_laitinen_plauen_der_dritte_weg_nordic_resistance_movement_finnish_resistance_movement

Instead of Juuso Tahvanainen, NRM sent Paavo Laitinen as their representative to Plaumen. At this point Paavo Laitinen had already snitched all the people from FRM who participated in the so called library attack. They attacked a public presentation of a book concerning Finnish extreme right. The presentation was held in a public library in Jyväskylä, Finland on 30.1.2013. When the antifascists working as security guards at the library defended the event, one of the attacking Nazis drew a knife and stabbed one of the security guards. Paavo Laitinen was one of the three attackers. The second attacker was a local nazi Sampsa Muhonen who owns a nazi-clothing store called “Ferus Finnum”. Muhonen turned himself in the next day and snitched everyone involved. Paavo Laitinen got arrested the day after the attack. In addition to Muhonen Paavo Laitinen snitched everyone after sitting for a couple days in the police prison. He even admitted that he tried to get his 17-year-old brother and his brothers girlfriend to participate in the attack. At the time of arrest Laitinen also had a “list of race traitors” on his laptop. He got later convicted and had to pay about 30000 euros in fines for this list with hundreds of names, including minors. Latinen also had on his laptop a partially unencrypted discussion with Ali Kaurila, who is one of the leaders of FRM, about planning the knife attack to the library. So basically, the attack was at least partially planned by the leaders of FRM and two of the three FRM attackers snitched all the other nazis.

Paavo “snitch” Laitinen knows also how to play guitar.

Paavo Laitinen has held a key position in FRM in the last few years. He has been a central figure in making and updating FRM website, social media accounts, making propaganda videos and pictures, and worked as the leader of Jyväskylä local group. The court case against the library attack was held in the beginning of 2015, after that Paavo Laitinen has not been seen in the pictures posted on FRM site. He is still active in twitter, advertising FRM activities. It also seems like he is still the administrator of the website and continues making videos for FRM. Laitinen is also a bass player in the RAC-band “Pagan Skull” that has made a split with the Estonian RAC band “Minu Kamp”. After the snitching Pagan Skull has played for example at a gig organized by Finnish Blood and Honour.

Degradation of racial theories and FRM hostile neo-fascists as best friends

In the last year NRM has changed its politics and racial theories quite radically. Where as before NRM was only open for “Nordic blood” it is now possible for “all Europeans” to become members. They have also changed their view on parlamentarism. They used to be strictly against parlamentarism and called all parliamentary parties traitors of national socialist revolution. Now they are starting their own parliamentary party in Sweden. In march 2015 NRM took part in the international Russian conservative forum meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, which was a pro-Putin event.

In Finland FRM has made co-operation with neofascist Suomen Sisu which has a couple of MPs in the Finnish parliament on the list of the populist and racist True Finns party. The most famous member of Suomen Sisu is the Eurabia theoretician Jussi Halla-aho. He is currently in the European Parliament as a member of True Finns party, which is part of the group European Conservatives and Reformists, that in turn consists of for example Conservative Party (UK), Law and Justice (Poland) and Danish People’s Party (Denmark). Also the Turkish party AKP (lead by Erdoğan) is part of the same alliance. Halla-aho was widely quoted by Breivik in his manifesto.

In the 6th of December 2014, which is the Independence Day of Finland, FRM, Suomen Sisu and an internet publishing site called Sarastus [Dawn] organized a nationalist demonstration “612”, in which organization or openly fascist symbols were not used. In the end of the summer 2015 Suomen Sisu and Sarastus called FRM “stupid and marginal” and condemned their politics and street actions because FRM had attacked locals at a demonstration in Jyväskylä in august 2015. It is still unclear if FRM still wants to co-operate with these organizations, that actively try to marginalize and condemn FRM inside the nationalisti scene in Finland.

To sum up, the Finnish resistance movement has a problem with a leadership that lets known snitches represent the whole Nordic resistance movement in international events and lets them continue to work in the organization. In addition, the leadership of FRM co-operates with strasserist and neofascist groups that are politically hostile towards FRM and condemns it publicly.

In the latest year NRM has started to open its doors by abandoning racial theory in favor of a “pan-European Pro-Putin nationalism”. Also a parliamentary group is to be created in Sweden. At the same time NRM still evokes a strategy of propagandist violent street actions where they attack local people in their demonstrations, which they never advertise publicly.

* Acutally just a few days ago Klas Lund was displaced as the leader. The new leader of NMR is Emil Hagberg, with the help of Simon Lindberg. The SRM parlamentarian party in Sweden is led by Pär Öberg. Lund has been a long time burden for NRM. He likes to live on other peoples money and most income of NRM has gone to feed him. For exmple Henrik Holappa published his book about Rudolf Hess through is own publishing house Fenrir Förlag instead of NRM/SRM.

You can read the original court documents containing all the snithcing from our webpage varisverkosto.com. Unfortunatelly all the documents are in finnish only.

On the International Day of Solidarity with antifascist prisoners, from Finland with Love

Everyone has heard the stories of growing fascism all over the world. Especially the financial crisis in Europe has hit hard on the working class, making the trust in capitalism as a system to sink. For this we see once again how capital, the state and fascist are working together to secure their power in society.

Here in Finland we have witnessed how the racist party True Finns have gotten into the government. For the financial elite or even the centrist parties, social-democrats or mainstream media, it doesn’t matter that the new Minister of Defence Jussi Niinistö has a long history in the white power movement of the 90s, or that the MP Olli Immonen is the head of the neofascist group Suomen Sisu and organizes events with hitlerist Finnish ”Resistance” Movement. There are several links with Jussi Halla-Aho, who is a member of the European Parliament in the True Finn Party, with mass-murderer Breivik and all other Eurarbia fanatics. We can see how the government MP’s and mass-media are giving their blessing to racism and chauvinism in society in the name of ”consensus”

In the their new austerity plan, the new government is making a hard attack especially against women, students, poor people, asylum seekers and development aid NGOs, while the rich can keep freely accumulating their capital. Finnish right-wing government strongly opposes helping the people in Greece and elsewhere, while they are happy to build a nuclear power plant to Putin with tax payers money, increase corporate power through TTIP and letting IMF and ECB to take control of peoples lives in the name of “economic growth”.

The fascists in Finland are now making an attack against feminists, because they have already milked out the what they can from racism and building nationalism is already the top agenda of the state, as always. On top of that they are trying to form alliances with fanatic Christians on the questions concerning LGBTQ-rights. What they are laking is street movements that can make social projects for them.

Fascists think that they have the answer when they blame immigrants, leftists, anarchists, feminists, sexual minorities and labor movements for the financial crisis and problems in society. The truth is that they are just reproducing the teachings of neoliberal ideology and politics, that is sanctioning socialdarwinism in the name of the market. They are marionettes of capital.

We are to believe that everything in life is just a competition, a rat race for goods let them be social, cultural or economic. But as antifascist and anticapitalist we know that a world that builds on solidarity, mutual aid and respect is possible. We have to defend our movements against the repression of the state, fascist and all other conservative fanatics. We have to defend our neighborhoods from fascists so that they can never build their movements where we live. We have to constantly rethink our strategies and tactics so that we can bring down the capitalist system that is the root cause of fascism. And we have to backup our prisoners who are sitting far away from their loved ones, surrounded by concrete and all around surveillance.

Solidarity to all antifascist prisoners all over the world! We will not forget you, and we will not stop fighting!

On the 25th of July 2015 we have had events in Lempäälä, Helsinki and Tampere.

antifa_solidarity_25_7__lempaala_puntala

We were distributing our material at the punk festival Puntala in Lempäälä. At the scene there were also many comrades from different Anarchist Black Cross groups in Finland. People were happy, drunk and definitively not nazi-punks as you can see from the picture.

varis_puntala_antifa_solidarity

Varis @ Puntala

Over the week we have worked against a nsbm/noise/rac -concert in Helsinki. We have managed to cancel at least two nsbm/rac/industrial-gigs, and brought a nazi sympathizing heavymetal bar in trouble with people who hate nazis. For example the grindcore band Rottenrotten_sound_peruutus Sound canceled their gig at PRKL Club because the bar had recently been involved in organizing multiple gigs with nazi bands. When fronted the bar didn’t condemn the nazi bands political views, but tried to blame antifascists for making a fuss about it.

We also managed to reveal the connections between a finnish nsbm/noise/industrial front figure Mikko Aspa and hitlerists from Finnish Resistance Movement (FMR). Aspa has been runing record labels Northern Heritage (black metal) and Freak Animal (noise/powerelectronics/industrial) and he owns a record store (Sarvilevyt) in Lahti where he has sold FMR material. Aspa has also been running a RAC soloproject, where he sings about racial war and white pride. Now there is no question that the finnish nsbm-scene has connections with “real” political fascist groups, and they can not just claim to be a theater show for laughs.

In Helsinki we organized a small solidarity manifestation in support of Russian antifascist prisoners Alexey Sutuga and Aleksandr Kolchenko.

Support images and slogans were also painted around Helsinki.

 IMG_20150725_214512

InAntifa_solidarity_helsinki_25_7_abc addition, we distributed pamphlets that contained descriptions of the situation of antifascist prisoners and had an event to write postcards of support to antifascist prisoners all around the world.

In Tampere we were distributing our flayers for the International antifascist prioners day and making propaganda around the city.

Fascist and conservative views on gender

Recent events in Finland have raised some concern about Nazi and neo-fascist mobilization in the streets. The coming together of these groups in a larger demonstration during the Finnish independence day in 2014 is also worrying. The organizer of the demonstration, Timo Hännikäinen, is a controversial right-wing conservative mostly known for his misogyny. In the beginning of 2015 (in February) a new book by him is published, centered around fear of feminism. Why does he step out to the streets now, and why does he on the same time choose to focus on feminism and women?

New Man

A short description on the conservative and fascist world view, linked to gender, is needed. This world view includes the protection of the own people (race/ethnicity), language and culture. It is based on masculinity (masculine hegemony), militarism, violence and a hierarchical system, where traditional heterosexual gender roles play an important part. Emphasis is put on the importance of the nuclear family as a social pillar, on which all else is built. Woman’s role  is considered to be as the mother and care taker of the children at home and the man’s role is to work outside the home, as protector of the  family or as a warrior. This should not be news to anybody. Everything that threatens this order is considered dangerous. The outside enemy, also in Finland, is seen in immigrants and nowadays especially in Muslims. Immigrants are especially seen as a threat to the continuum of white or European supremacy. The enemy inside society is seen for example in  lgbtqi- people (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersexual) as they are seen as unnatural and immoral for not reproducing inside heterosexual marriage. Feminism again is an internal ideological threat, in wanting gender equality, which then of course threatens the role of men in the family but also questions the power white men structurally have in society over all women. In fascist views feminism is also most often linked to another enemy that is at the same time inside and outside society: marxism or nowadays even more to the antisemitic conspiracy theory of “cultural marxism“, that has its roots in the nazi theory of “secularized judaism” of cultural Bolshevism.

Timo Hännikäinen released an introduction1 to his new book Kunnia (eng. Honour) already in December 2014, which Savukeidas publishing house published in February 2015. Savukeidas claims to be an anarchistic publishing house that is owned by Ville Hytönen and Erno Selänne2. The theme of the book is threatened European masculinity, continuing Hännikäinen’s sexist theme (he has already published  the misogynist book Ilman ‘eng. Without, 2009′). Hännikäinen has, as mentioned, also figured as the main organizer for a demonstration for the extreme right (612.fi) that  gathered 150 known nazis and fascists under one umbrella in Helsinki on the Finnish independence day. Some of the participants were from the violent Finnish Resistance Movement and from the neofascists Suomen Sisu. Hännikäinen’s introductory  text shows his misogynous and fascist thinking and is an attempt to provoke. He continues and creates conservative values about gender and race. As a new extreme right opinion “leader”, his texts should not be ignored.

zcolonialismraceHännikäinen  continues an old colonialist ideology in the text. He protects European  culture, civilization and men. European colonial history is built on population and natural resource control and management in colonies, which continues under extreme capitalism in a globalized  world. So Hännikäinen does not add anything new to the table, but uses and builds on the old familiar story of European colonial history. At  the same time Hännikäinen creates an image of victimized European men, that are losing power, which he blames feminism for. So when attacking the feminist movement, Hännikäinen provides the ideal scape goating for the public’s attention from the society’s structural decline. If that decline would be questioned, attention would be focused on the capitalist state and its apparatus.

In nationalism, women or femininity often get to symbolize the nation. The symbol of Finland as a nation is that of the virgin, in comparison to Mother Russia and Mother Sweden. As a fairly  young state the Finnish national identity has a bad self esteem. Timo Hännikäinen provides his own victimhood in his text, a rhetoric which attracts many Finnish men, that really are marginalized in todays society of growing unemployment. A comparing link about the use of victimhood in creating nationalism can be made to the Balkan wars in the 1990’s. In creating Serbian nationalism, victimization of Serbs was a big part. In Finland, the victimhood stemming from growing poverty, adds to the amount of dissatisfaction and anger, especially in young men. Hännikäinen speaks to these young men and quotes the movie Fight Club. But  Hännikäinen is not oppressed nor a victim. His books are being  published and debated in media, his points of views are not censored, even though he claims they are. He knows what he is doing in creating European, white supremacist manhood.

Fascism sees virility as an important part of masculinity. Interestingly enough, Hännikäinen wrote a book about him not having sex (2009) and now things seem to be getting out of hand with the new book. Hännikäinen is not the virile man desired by his ideology. He is neither a father or man of the house. It is not a coincidence then, that it is Hännikäinen writing about gender, and not Jussi Halla-Aho, who is fanatically interested in Islam.

Often, when nationalist or  fascist movements are planned, born and reinforced, a picture of not only the “other” but also the “other women” is created, together with  “the own woman”. In Finland, especially Finnish Resistance Movement (FRM) is focused on men and masculinity. The stereotypical racist and sexist image of the Black or Muslim man as a rapist is used. (In speaking about Islam, it is important to underline the difference between the religion Islam, and the political ideology islamism. Kurdish women are fighting islamism on ground3.) Finnish white women are portrayed as victims of rape by this “other” man. In the recently published article on FRM by Helsingin Sanomat, symbolism in recruiting new members is discussed on the FRM inside forum. Symbols such as the hangman’s noose are considered strong imagery, and should only be used in the case of gang rape. Rape is discussed as something that evokes strong feelings, even of lynching, in people and should be used together with aggressive images when used in propaganda4. Consider then the face that Finland is one of Europe’s most violent when it comes to gendered violence, where Finnish men beats Finnish women.

nazifamily

NSDAP proaganda poster from WW2

One FRM article defines women only in relation to men: as  singles, single mothers and wives. The National Socialist woman is, as single,  the “guardian of  “moral”, as “the single mom” she support the children in everything, but only as the “wife”, she support her husband and  children. And as a strong woman and mother, she brings forward the  National Socialist ideology5. Homosexuality and the decline of the nuclear family are again seen as a bigger threat towards the white race6.

Patriarchy,  especially white supremacist patriarchy, defines gender on a binary axis of male and female. It places the white European man as supreme.  The other masculinities are portrayed as animalistic, beast-like and uncontrollable. They are seen as a threat to white masculinity that, even though it is militant, powerful and armed, has one weakness, its females (the weaker sex). Therefore, as white masculinity, through for example the FRM, arms itself and prepares its self for racial war, it must provide for the security of its women, who can be  raped to produce “other” children, that are unpure. Consequently, in  order to control its (national, racial) purity, the women must be secured, controlled and monitored. The “other” woman is not seen as such a big threat because she is portrayed and viewed as a sexual object.

Again, to take an example of Serbian fascism, that was spread largely through extensive media campaigns, and that the Finnish Resistance Movement refers to. The genocide and the systematic rape by the Serbian soldiers of women (femicide) was planned and part of the fascist ideology. The Serbian culture, like most European cultures, is patrilinear, meaning that the family and ethnicity is seen to continue through the father. The purpose of the established rape camps where to create a new generation of Serbs through raping Bosnian and Croatian women, mainly Muslims. All sides of the conflict used rape as a weapon, but not as systematically as the Serb army. The image of the “other” woman simultaneously created with the “Serbian” woman (and also one of religion as most of the women raped were Muslim)  was created before and during the war. If the Serbian men raped Serbian  women in the home, it was hidden or not talked about. The creation of nationalist ideas were here strongly linked to gender7.

Also for example in Italian Fascism the patriarchal role and masculine hegemony were important to establish as part of the political ideology.  In Europe today conservative and fascist ideologies are similarly seeing  feminism as a threat and upholds traditional values that belongs in a pre-modern world. In 2011 Oslo bomber and mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik’s manifesto, that also refers to Finnish extreme nationalist groups, lists feminism as one of the  most destructive elements of “cultural marxism” to European civilization8.

Breivik writes: “Today, the feminisation of European culture, moving rapidly since the 1960s continues to intensify. Indeed, the present-day radical feminist assault through support for mass Muslim immigration has a political parallel to  the their anti-colonial efforts. This current assault is in part a continuation of a century-old effort to destroy traditional European  structures, the very foundation of European culture. – – Indeed the feminisation of European culture is nearly completed.  And the last bastion of male domination, the police force and the military, is under assault. – – The fate of European civilization  depends on European men steadfastly resisting Politically Correct  feminism.”

One important aspect to take into consideration however is that different right wing and fascist groups do have different views on gender and sexuality. The Finnish Defence League (FDL), that tried to establish itself in Finland a couple of years ago, are racist anti-Muslims, but side with gay people, in a “strange bedfellows” alliance9. Fascist or racist groups (or states) might use marginalized or oppressed groups in society in trying to create “others” as threats. According to the violent and hierarchical world view, this is only a propaganda tool, not something they actually care for.

KapitalismusTimo Hännikäinen aims at a shift in public debate through creating feminism as a threat. Why does he not focus on immigrants or LGBTQI-people in his ultra conservative politics? The Finnish government produces structural racism well enough and the racist term “immigrant criticism” is already  normalized. Feminism in Finland is not strong in general society if you compare, say,  to Sweden. However, the national image that the Finnish state gives outwards  is one of gender equality.  It is equality measured by a woman president, and also relying on an image of “the strong Finnish woman”.  Gendered violence in Finland, affecting all classes, is widely spread in homes, is not dealt with nor  talked about properly. Transgender people are sterilized by force by the Finnish law. The structural problems of capitalism e.g. inequality and poverty created by ownership of means of production by the state and private capitalists – and protected by police and army – , affects underclass people, unemployed, racialized people, queers, women and men in different ways. This is where antifascist, anti-racist and feminist focus should be.
